I’ve just dozed off when loud cheers erupt from the front of the boat.

“Let’s see what’s going on!” Kiki pushes my leg as she gets up.

The three of us head to the front of the sailboat toward the commotion. I stumble at the sight of four incredibly gorgeous shirtless men drinking beer as they cheer on Lex who’s currently fighting to pull in a fish. His muscles are straining as he lets the line out a little and then aggressively winds it back in. My mouth waters as I see his tanned back muscles bunch, his abdomen taut as he twists to fight the fish. Then all of a sudden he pulls up this huge thrashing gray metallic fish. Connor and Tatum lean over to help bring it in with a net.

The three of them hold down the fish as they get the hook out of its mouth. Lex turns around holding the fish in his hands. He’s seriously a beautiful specimen in his red board shorts and his black snapback turned backwards on his head. His olive skin is tanned and his abs ripple as he holds up the four-foot fish. His gorgeous baby blues crinkle as a devastating smile spreads across his face. It’s contagious, automatically making me smile at seeing how happy he is.

Lex proudly stands between Tatum and his brother holding the fish up as Will takes a picture. His eyes land on me and he calls me over.

“Sunshine, look at this beauty! Can ye believe it?!”

“It’s beautiful! Is it a shark?” I ask as I cautiously touch its smooth rubbery skin.

“Aye, it’s a tope fish, a species of shark. They won’t bite you though. Take a pic with me. It’s a big deal to catch one.”

Will takes a pic of Lex and I with the fish and then Kiki and TJ join me for more pictures. Lex kisses the shark and then tosses it back over the side.

“Wait, you’re not going to keep it? I thought you guys were trying to catch fish for dinner tonight.”

“Aye, we are, but these fish are protected, so back it goes. Will and Connor caught some cod.”

His happiness is a heady thing and I feel like I’m deliriously spinning in it. He washes his arms off with a wet towel and then grabs a beer from Tatum and pops it open and taps his bottle with everyone, cheering, “Sláinte.” I’m hyperaware of his arm as it wraps around me and pulls me to his side as he jokes with Tatum and Will.

He smells like ocean, mint, and man. His fingers lightly trail over the exposed skin from the side cutouts of my swimsuit. I shiver as his arm automatically tightens around me. I’m trying to act casual, like hey no big deal, Lex has me tucked into his side where it feels so right, but I’m frozen, unable to follow the thread of conversation around me. My heart is singing its own love song as it thumps fast in my chest.
